Precious Jewel
Welcome to another adventure from the Thousand Acre Woods deep within Trollheim of the NJ Pine Belt! Tales Chronicled by Jonathan Hulton. Today we have a story all father's share, how to guide their children to find their path to happiness.
"Dad—now don't get excited that I am asking you for advice; I wouldn't want your head to get any bigger, or at least those quite prolific horns you have—they are quite impressive, but I'm lost and yes, need some of your advice...," in disbelief, Angrboða said with her head in her hands.
" 'Uncle, what is it that troubles you?' " reminiscing of another time, answers solemnly.
"What!!!" Angrboða says in frustration, "I ask you for help, and you bring up some uncle..."
"Those are the words from Parzival that healed the Fisher King."
"You think the Great Horned Serpent can knock this Fisher King out of the water like us?" She asks before returning to the point. "WHATEVER….I'm lost."
"Parzival was lost in the wasteland and was acting like a fool like you."
"No need to get personal here," Angrboða said, staring at him. "I should run away from home"
"On your mark"
"Dad, will you be serious."
"As long as you don't call me Shirley"
"Arghhhh!!!"
"OK, what is wrong?" Bjorn asked with his hand on her shoulder as she leaned in.
"I don't know what to do with my life.
"Follow your bliss."
"What?"
"You're bliss; what makes you happy in life, which you have a unique talent for."
"Is this time for one of your old dusty stories again?"
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away
'What'
'Sorry'
In a remote realm of perfection, there was a good king who had a queen and a wonderful prince and princess. They were very happy.
The father told his children that 'it was time for them to travel below, as all children do, to search endlessly for the precious jewel and bring it home.'
Anonymously they traveled through foreign lands amongst dark civilizations. Once engulfed in the culture, the siblings slowly parted ways as asleep to their own true world. The sensuality and fears of their new world, for a time, became their reality, obscuring their true selves.
Worrying for his children, he sent a Troll.
Once found he reminded them to "Remember your mission; awaken from your disillusion."
'They woke up and, with his magic, were able to face the scores of dangers protecting the jewel and, through its power, returned home out of the wasteland. The children were now monarchs with full authority over their lives and their goals and no longer played the part of the fool.'
"I'm a fool." Angrboða agreed.
"Follow your bliss."
"Where to start?"
Bjorn handed her her Troll doll she got when she was 225. Trolls don't graduate school till their 500. Many times their teachers could be over 2,000.
"Molly!" Angrboða yelled as she hugged her. "I thought she was gone."
"A father never lets a piece of his daughter's heart get lost, even if she loses it. It is yours again."
"Thanks; last time I played with her, we were tricking the dwarves to leave the little elf alone."
"That is your gift, more valuable than any other jewel, is your ability to stick up for those people who can learn to do for themselves through their own hard work and your aide. Remember, your jewel is too precious to squander on or be stolen by others; it's there only to shine the way on the path for them to find their own. For your jewel is useless in their hands as theirs in yours. Just remember also that once your jewel is shining, it is shameful for its light not to shine the way for others. Don't be remise, like Ulysses, who had to have his son save him from coveting and sharing his jewels... with others than his mother."
"What is the first step of the fool?"
"To blindly step off the cliff."
"What!!!"

Following the Harry N. Abrams, Inc. tradition of the series that created Brian Froud's and Alan Lee's Faeries and Gnomes by Wil Huygen and Rien Poortvliet, we present you with what would have been the next book in the series: Trolls: A Compendium. Trolls—do you think you know what they are? Could you be wrong?
Trolls within Scandinavian lore, myth, saga, fantasy, and folktales are actually anything magical within our northern neighbor's culture. Richly illustrated (over 600 paintings) in this volume are the tales of faeries, dwarves, nissen, huldras, gods, Jotuns, draugar, ghosts, and more. Also, this book introduces our readers to the world of Trollheim, populated by Nattrolls that escaped the 17th-century Swedish colony within the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Narrated by Christopher Jonathan Hulton, who lives in the Thousand Acre Woods just after the Civil War, their tales are filled with Native American lore and tales of their neighbor, the Jersey Devil.
